Okay, so the title speaks for itself. This month, I decided to post the Artist and Quote early so that I won’t forget. Now, onto the explanations.

First, the Quote of the Month. I hope you all know that I am one of the most obsessed Harry Potter fans you will ever know. Well, I decided that this month I will flaunt my fandom. This month, we are blessed with a quotation from none other than the greatest sorcerer in the world, Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore. Yes, I know, he’s not real, but I love this quote and I think it represents the human population perfectly. So I put it on the Quote!

Now, on to the Artist. Well, this month, there are two artists. And one is actually two, so there are actually three! Anyway, the first is Edwin Mccain. Y’all have probably never heard of him, but have any of you ever seen “A Cinderella Story” with Hilary Duff? Remember when she and Austin Ames are dancing in the gazebo at the Halloween dance? Do you remember the song the little makeshift band played? Well, that song is called “I’ll Be,” and it has to be one of my favorite songs of all time! It’s just so beautiful, and I’ve never posted it on What’s Up Katie? so I decided to this month.

The next artist is a band, but then they teamed up with a famous country/pop artist. Her name is Taylor Swift, and the band is Boys Like Girls. These two outstanding singers pair up to sing the song “Two is Better Than One,” and, I have to say, I love this song! They’re really good together! Now, I would say a huge monologue about them, but I really don’t know enough to do that! So, without further ado…

HERE IS EDWIN MCCAIN SINGING I’LL BE AND BOYS LIKE GIRLS AND TAYLOR SWIFT SINGING TWO IS BETTER THAN ONE!!! WOO HOO!!!

So that’s it! I’ll try and update if anything interesting happens in my life, but until then, PEACE OUT HOME SCOUTS!!!

Okay, so I have some awesome news! You know that story I told y’all I was writing? Well, I FINALLY wrote the first chapter last night! I would put the chapter in this post, but I would much rather you guys go on Booksie (www.booksie.com) and read and comment so I know what I need to work on for the next chapter!

BUT.. I will post the summary on here right now:

Raynerd Sinclair is a boy from Arizona, used to the hot weather and the solitude. His father died when he was just seven years old, and his life hasn’t been the same since. But Rayne is resilient; he learned to adapt and appreciate what he has. He likes having no worries, no fears, and, most importantly, no drama in his life.

Carlaina Mason is a small-town girl who moved from Mobile, Alabama to Savannah, Georgia when her father left her mother for his executive assistant and he kept their house. She has to deal with drama every single day of her life, and she just wants to get away from it all.

While on his winter break in Paris, France, Rayne sees Carly, who is also vacationing, around the city and is immediately infatuated with her. He is determined to meet her from that point forward. He will stop at nothing to get to know the simple beauty.

Once the polar opposites finally encounter one another, they get to liking each other rather quickly. Rayne and Carly miss out on tours just so they can get together. Then the two best friends start to feel something different. Will this sneak-off relationship develop in to something more?

Doesn’t it sound awesome?! Yeah, I know, I can’t even believe I came up with that!

I’ll make a new page titled something like, “Paris,” and it’ll contain links to each chapter! So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go to the links and read and comment! Your constructive criticism is very much appreciated! PEACE OUT HOME SCOUTS!!!

Update, update, up-DATE! That was supposed to be to the rhythm of the conga line song that you dance to, by the way. But anyway, no, this post is NOT about the ABC Family show, “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.” I just thought it was kind of creative to use it was my title, even though my life is about as secret as a stack of potatoes. So yeah, not that much of a secret.

But, I do need to give y’all an update on my novel, Paris. A few weeks ago, I decided that my story is NOT going to be a fantasized version of me and Hayden. It’s not even going to take place in my home state; it’s going to be in Paris, France, hence the title. Here’s a synopsis:

Raynerd (Rayne) is a boy from Australia with an Australian mother and Spanish father. Brennan (Bree) is a small-town girl who was born in Alabama but moved to Georgia with her mom when her father left them for his executive assistant. Well, during winter break, both Bree and Rayne both travel to Paris, France with their families. When they run in to each other while on separate tours, the two teens become fast friends. Will their relationship develop into something more?

So, what did y’all think? That’s probably the one I’m going to put on Booksie, but I don’t know.

Well, that should be all for tonight. So… PEACE OUT HOME SCOUTS!!!

Here We Go Again…

Well, it’s finally 2010! What’s your New Year’s Resolution? Ha ha, I’m just kidding. But anyway, a new month means a new Artist and Quote of the Month. So that’s (hopefully) going to be the primary topic of this post.

So, first, the Artist of the Month. This past summer, Fox released a new TV show, called Glee. Well, I quickly became obsessed with not just the show, but also the songs. I would go on to this cool site, “Groove Shark,” and listen to Glee songs. Well, about two weeks before Christmas was the last episode of this season, “Sectionals.” That was the best episode yet, and I loved it so much, I even downloaded it onto my iPod touch! Anyway, there were these two songs that I really liked. Have y’all ever seen the movie Dreamgirls? You know, with Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce, Eddie Murphy, Jamie Foxx, and Anika Noni Rose, just to name a few? Well, anyway, Jennifer Hudson sings this song called “And I’m Telling You (I’m Not Going),” and a girl on Glee did a spin on it. The character’s name is Mercedes Jones, but the actress is Amber Riley, and her version is AWESOME!!! I mean, she blows it out of the park! I love it! And then the other song is “Don’t Rain on My Parade,” and the star of the glee club, Rachel Berry, sings it. The actress’s name is Lea Michele, and she can also sing really well! That song is really good too! So those are the two songs I’ve chosen for January; I hope y’all like them!

Okay, now on to the Quote. Like December’s, this month’s quote is from the play I was in at my school, “The Foreigner.” We adapted it for the One Act Competition, so I don’t know how long it really is, but ours was two acts. Anyway, the quote I chose was the cast’s and crew’s favorite of my character. I know it might seem a little conceited of me to feature one of my own quotes, but I didn’t write it; I just yelled it! So, I played an old woman, Betty Meeks, and when this British guy comes to my rural Georgia lodge, I immediately take him in, but when I talk to him, I literally yell it loud and slow. It’s funnier when you actually see it, but I LOVE this one. It was really fun to say!

Well, now on to your update on my life! No, I haven’t gotten back together with Hayden, and, judging by the fact that he told me he doesn’t like anyone, I won’t ever get back with him. But we’re still good friends, so it’s all good! He gave me a compliment on my hair a couple days ago because my friend straightened it, and I think he knew that I cherish his compliments the most because I like him. But whatever! The good news is that I think I’m finally getting over him. It may be really slowly, but it’s still improvement! Being hung up on him isn’t healthy for me. I really need to move on.

So, I have one other thing I need to tell you guys. Remember my “Endless Story” page? Well, I’m going to delete that. Instead of having a page with a story written on it, I’ve created a Booksie account where I will post my stories. It won’t be “The Boy from the Window,” though, unless that one bugs me a lot like the idea I have right now is. I’ve had this new idea in my head for almost 4 months now, so I’ve finally decided that I actually am going to write it. Coincidentally, it’s going to be my relationship with Hayden if it had actually worked out. I’m also adding a few of the fantasies I have in there (yes, I know, I’m a stalker) to make it a little better. I’m going to change the names, but pretty much everything else is going to be like it was in real life. Until we get to the working-out part, of course. But yeah, I’ll post the link to that on a new stories page I’m going to create on here, but I first need to post it on Booksie! So I’ll definitely keep you guys posted on that!

Well, that’s it for today! I’ll make sure to keep you guys posted on the status of my story, but, until then, PEACE OUT HOME SCOUTS!!!

A Catch-Up…

Dec

So, I haven’t written in FOREVER!!! And I haven’t changed the Artist or Quote of the Month since like, August. So that’s the first thing I’m going to address.

First, the band is called Owl City. A friend of mine recommended them to me (I actually think it’s really only one dude in the band), and the singing isn’t the best and the lyrics have no meaning, but both of these songs have a good rhythm, and I like them. Anyway, Owl City rocketed to the top of music charts all over, I saw people singing one of the songs, “Fireflies,” every day at school, and I see “Fireflies” every morning on VH1’s “Jump Start.” Needless to say, this band is pretty popular. And then another friend of mine had the other song, “Rainbow Veins,” on her iPod, and she let me listen to it. I found it was pretty “catchy” as well, so I put it on here too. Now, I won’t keep you from listening to these good songs (while reading the rest of this post) any longer. So, without further ado, I give you Owl City singing “Fireflies” and “Rainbow Veins”! WOO HOO!

Second, this month’s Quote is one from the school play I starred in, “The Foreigner.” Just for the record, I played the lodge-keeper (the entire play occurs in this lodge), Betty Meeks, who also happens to be around 74 years old. So yeah, I was the youngest cast member playing the oldest character. But we got third place in the competition we went to, so I guess the director had her head screwed on right when she cast me. ANYWAY!!! Sorry, I was getting off topic there for a while. So yeah, December’s Quote of the Month is said by the character the entire play is centered around, Charlie Baker, who comes to visit his friend, Froggy LeSeuer (who is enlisted in the army), in Georgia, but ends up staying at Betty Meeks’ lodge. He hates talking to people (except Froggy, of course), so Froggy comes up with the story that Charlie is from a totally foreign country and he doesn’t speak English, even though he’s really British and speaks perfect English. Anyway, at Betty Meeks’ lodge, he meets Catherine Simms, the local Southern Belle, who is engaged to the preacher, David Marshall Lee. And Catherine has a little brother named Ellard, and he’s pretty much a dimwit. Oh, and there’s also Owen Musser, but I don’t like the guy who played him at all, so I’m not going to mention him anymore. So, the quote I gave y’all is when Ellard is trying to teach Charlie how to say “fork,” and Charlie’s having fun pretending like he can’t say it. When you see it on stage, it’s hilarious. Julian and Tim (the actors for Ellard and Charlie) were phenomenal in the speaking lesson scenes.

Okay, now third, I need to get you guys up-to-speed on the goings-on of my life. So, in mid-late October, the guy I have a HUGE crush on asked me out! I had been getting signs for a couple weeks that he liked me (he invited me to his baseball game and, according to a woman sitting next to us, couldn’t take his eyes off me; when he came up to bat, he stated a fact about the weather and wouldn’t stop smiling while he talked; he texted me from 10 PM until 1:30 AM on night; and he would look at me constantly when he was talking to everyone on the bus), but I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly! He asked me out over a bunch of text messages, after I unintentionally confessed my feelings to him, I was super excited and happy, and it seemed like he was too. He texted me early the next morning telling me he felt sick, not knowing that I keep my phone off until after school. And then that night, I was at Macayla’s softball game, and he was explaining this game he’s addicted to (he tried SO HARD to get me to sign up to play too; I said no), and I said, “Yeah, unless you’re someone like me who talks so fast no one can understand what you’re saying.” His reply? “Ha it’s cute.” My heart swelled like, 20 sizes that moment. I felt the happiest I had in a while. I finally had a boyfriend, and it looked like he was going to be there for a while. Well, that Thursday afternoon, rehearsals started back (I had been on a 3-day break from “The Foreigner”), and he seemed sad when I told him that I couldn’t ride the bus that afternoon (that’s the only time I ever get to see him; before and after school). That was when everything started plummeting to a messy demise. On Friday, we both knew it was going to be a bad day. But I didn’t expect it to be as bad as it was. Long story short, after rehearsal, I was texting him, and he broke up with me. It wasn’t like when Edward broke up with Bella; I didn’t collapse on the floor and be a ghost for the next few months, but I did feel pretty bad. Like I said earlier, I REALLY like him (I still do, unfortunately), and I thought it was going to work out really well. I guess I was wrong! Everyday I wish he would text or call me and say something like, “I want you back,” but deep in my heart I know that’s not going to happen. So I keep living my life; that’s all I can do. Hayden and I are still friends, but we’re not nearly as good friends as we were during, and even before, when we were going out. But that’s okay. As long as he still talks to me, I’ll be okay.

Dang, that was pretty pathetic. Okay, now onto the next thing. So, this week was Final Exams Week. Monday and Tuesday were normal, but Wednesday, yesterday, and today were all only half days. We only had two classes! We went to school at 7:30 AM, like usual, but we got out at 11:45 AM, instead of 2:10 PM!!! How awesome is that?! But anyway, I was going to tell you guys the grades I got!

On Wednesday, I had the Newspaper and Accelerated Integrated Geometry exams. Because our Final was the actual paper, we didn’t have an official Final Exam in that class; all we did was write down a bunch of notes we need to remember for the next edition. In Math, I thought the exam was pretty easy. Math is one of my best subjects, so I was really happy with the exam. I got a 90%, which isn’t terrible, but I thought I would’ve done better.

Yesterday, I had the P.E. and Honors Spanish exams. The P.E. exam was iffy, but Spanish was easy. It’s also one of my best subjects, apparently, because I got a 94% on the exam. I don’t know what my grade was on the P.E. one, but I think I did okay.

Today, which was not only just the last day of Finals but also the last day of the first semester, I had my Advanced Placement Biology and Gifted Language Arts exams. AP Bio is very difficult because my teacher crams a bunch of information into our tiny pea brains. And a lot of the students in my class are upperclassmen (I’m a freshman), so they’ve already taken Biology. This is my first Biology class–I had Life Science in the 7th grade, but it was VERY VERY basic stuff. So, you can understand my surprise when I discovered I got an 89% on the exam! I was ecstatic, but angry at the same time. You see, each of our exams was 100 questions, making each questions worth one point. That means that if I had missed one less question, I could’ve gotten an A! But whatever, it’s still really good, and it leaves me with a 104% overall (that’s with the 10 points that the school gives us for taking such a hard class added), which is very good.

Now, let me tell you something. On Tuesday (one of the regular-schedule days), my Language Arts teacher told our class that she’s only had 2 people get an A on the exam in some amount of time I don’t remember. So we were all pretty bummed. But when we took the exams today, a lot of people got A’s! But let me tell you about mine! Well, I walked up to my teacher’s desk to ask for a pass to the bathroom, and she had already scanned the exams, so she knew we had gotten on them. Well, our conversation follows:

Me– “Hey, Ms. Steele, can I have a pass to the bathroom?

My teacher– “Yeah. And you did phenomenal on the exam, by the way. You got a 95%!” (She said it in a whispering voice because no one else knew their grade yet.)

Me– “Really? Wow.”

Her– “Yeah, I’ve never seen it before.”

Me– “Dang.”

And then she signed the pass and I went to the bathroom. BUT ISN’T THAT SO COOL?!?! I was super excited when she told me that! It was the highlight of my day.

Well, Mom and I are going shopping tomorrow morning at like, 7, so I need my beauty sleep. PEACE OUT HOME SCOUTS!!! :D
